This story sort of reminds me of Superman: Red Son. Like, always the superpowered person is a force of good, but when those values are twisted it can become very dangerous, like with Sonia(Riese).
Elaborating on that, the soviet superman is not evil, he was just raised with communist values and therefore sees the soviet union as the end all be all. Same with Riese, she isnt evil, but she was raised to believe that most humans would eventually hurt her. Imagine how a saint would grow with those values?
