"Status." Akira ran out of the tavern and opened the status screen, first to take another look at his current strength. ―――――――――――――――――― Ichijou Akira 25 years old Male Lv1 (25) Stamina:32 Strength:72 Endurance:71 Speed:66 Luck:26 Points:10 ―――――――――――――――――― Unique Skills: ・Return from Hell ―――――――――――――――――― Skills ・Physical strengthening Lv2 ・Analysis Lv1 ―――――――――――――――――― Damage bonus ・Goblin races +3% ・Wolf races +3% ・Plant-based monsters +3% ―――――――――――――――――― Akira had earned three new bronze trophies during the previous iterations, 『The Tenth Time,』 『Wolf Hunter,』 and 『Plant Hater.』 The bronze trophy, 『The Tenth Time,』 was earned when he literally returned from Hell for the tenth time. The reward was +5 Stamina, and Akira's fitness was slightly improved by that trophy. The 『wolf hunter』 and 『plant hater,』 as their names suggest, were acquired while killing monsters. The reward was the same as in 『Goblin Nemesis,』 a +20 increase in hostility and damage bonus taken by each monster. (I've accumulated 10 points, but this still doesn't allow me to level up my physical strengthening skill.) Akira confirmed through repetition that the number of points needed to take physical strengthening to the next level would be at level 30. Akira, feeling hopeless about this current situation of being stuck, was convinced that there was no meaning anymore in using these points. As a result, the unused points were thus accumulated. (I'm sure that if I raise the level of physical strengthening, I can defeat the Minotaur……) To accumulate points, it was essential to level up. What was troubling about the current situation, however, was that it was no longer easy to level up against Black Wolves. He did not have enough status to take on the Orcs in the next town, but even if he continued to level up in this town, he would probably only be able to level up once per Return from Hell. (I know the fastest way to get a lot of points is through quest rewards.) The only key quest right now was only shown as indicating the defeat of the Minotaur. Akira thought that the cause of the quest appearing was probably related to the monster that caused his death since it was described as "the monster that previously defeated you". (During these iterations, I was once intentionally killed by a grey wolf in an attempt to change the quests displayed, but the next time I encountered the grey wolf again upon awakening, the quest was not displayed.) Perhaps the quests were not displayed when you lost "on purpose". It would probably be something that would only be displayed after struggling to live, and then dying because you were still not enough. There were no monsters now that Akira would have trouble with within this city unless he was dealing with Orcs or the Minotaur. This meant that, at present, he could not rely on quests to earn points. (There is always the option of dealing with Orcs and switching quests, though……) The Endurance value for an Orc on the Analysis screen, which he had previously checked, was 123, much higher than Akira's strength value. With Endurance that high, no matter how many attacks Akira launched now, he would not be able to do any real damage. Akira shook his head to dispel the thought of fighting an Orc and then switched his thoughts. (……in that case.) Desperately, Akira continued to think. To see if there was any way to succeed, Akira looked through the point system one by one, from the allocation of points to the selection of new skills, to the details of the skills that could be acquired with the current points. And when he saw the details of several of the skills. Akira came up with one possibility. (No way.) Muttering in his mind, Akira selected the name to check the details of that skill once again. ―――――――――――――――――― Magic Circuit Lv1 ・Passive Skill ・Even creatures without an aptitude for Magical power can develop an aptitude for Magical power. The aptitude for Magical power varies according to the size of the circuit created in the body, and the size of the circuit depends on the skill level. Do you want to acquire Magic Circuit Lv1? Y/N ―――――――――――――――――― (…………If this is what I think it's going to be.) He was not confident. If he acquired this skill here, he would lose valuable points for no good reason. Once a skill had been acquired, even if the Return from Hell was triggered, it would not be possible to pretend that the acquisition of the skill had never taken place. In other words, this would be a big gamble for the future. Akira continued to stare at that skill detail for a while and eventually made a decision. ―――――――――――――――――― Skill: Magic Circuit Lv1 has been acquired. ―――――――――――――――――― At that moment, Akira felt a whirlwind of power in his chest. It was a strange sensation as if there was a new heart inside him, one that was pumping out blood in the form of Magical power. (Now if only my status would change without incident.) Muttering a prayer, Akira displayed the status screen again. ―――――――――――――――――― Ichijou Akira 25 years old Male Lv1 (25) Stamina:32 Strength:72 Endurance:71 Speed:66 Magical power:1 Luck:26 Earned points:5 ―――――――――――――――――― Unique Skills: ・Return from Hell ―――――――――――――――――― Skills ・Physical strengthening Lv2 ・Analysis Lv1 ・Magic Circuit Lv1 ―――――――――――――――――― Damage bonus ・Goblin races +3% ・Wolf races +3% ・Plant-based monsters +3% ―――――――――――――――――― (――――Good, just as I thought.) Akira's expression broke into a smile when he saw the new "Magical power" entry on the screen. (The question then becomes whether this number will increase with the level up.) Depending on the results, the number of repetitions and the preliminary preparations to challenge the Minotaur will change. "Alright." With a small murmur, Akira braced himself. There was nothing to be afraid of anymore. Because he knew that from now on, even if he had to do it a thousand times over, he would never be alone. "Let's go." To survive tomorrow, in one piece. Because in this world full of monsters, he was not alone. ――――Let's step out into the world once again.
