Episode 09: Let’s go the safe route!
"It's done."
I don't know how much to boil it down, so it's a bit of a guess, but I'm sure it'll be fine.
A potful of nicotine extract is ready to use.
"How dangerous is this poison? "
"I don't know, but if it were me or you, Fiona, a spoonful would surely kill us."
"Eh, scary……"
I think I saw something on the news once about how even a few drops can kill you.
I think even that dragon would die if given a full dose of this. It would be better if it could be injected intravenously, but would a sharpened pipe be a good substitute for an injection? No, if he wakes up, it would be too late.
"Behold! The mysterious chemical all-stars."
Rodenticides, insecticides, pesticides, hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, detergents, bleach, batteries, and potato sprouts.
And maybe some hard drugs from the back shelf in the pharmacy section.
"So much!? I thought you said it was a store that sold household goods. "
"Well, they are just commodities. It's just that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. When there's so much of something it can reach a lethal dose."
"I see.……? "
But there's a fundamental problem……
"So, what are you going to do with all that poison? "
"I guess that's the problem."
That dragon is sleeping and has a great snort, but his mouth is properly closed.
If the mouth was sloppily open, it might be possible to throw a projectile into it like a water balloon or to make a device to tilt the pot remotely and pour it into it, but it would be a little difficult.
And then there's the injection strategy, huh? Did they sell needles? Do I have to machine an iron pipe to make it?
Yup.
"All right! Let's put this one aside and come up with some other ideas! "
"Eh, EEEEEHHHHH!? What about the poison? "
"That is too high of a hurdle for me to attempt on my first try."
This is why it's no good to come up with ideas in the heat of the moment.
After all, if that thing wakes up, then there's zero chance.
We have to beat him before he wakes up. This means that it has to be a one-hit kill.
"What else?…… What's around……? "
"Well, there's that. I wondered about the risks involved, but it's simply the most lethal one."
"Is there such a thing? Then why did you make the poison……?"
"Like I said, it's a risky approach."
Because we're in a closed area, and it's underground.
In terms of power, it's the strongest, but well, I'm not sure.
About using gasoline……
"Oh, is that dragon one that breathes fire? I don't think it'll be good if a fire is mixed with his breath."
"I don't know, but I think it will be okay. Besides, dragon's breath is supposed to be a form of magic."
"Then, it will probably work out…… It might be difficult if he has a fire attribute, and attacks are nullified or something."
"Fire attribute……? What's that? "
"You know, the kind of monsters that are immune to fire, or water attacks, or whatever."
"Hmm~. I don't think there is anything like that."
I wonder if they don't have the concept of attributes.
Well, whatever.
Then let's get it ready.

"Now, I'm warning you, Fiona, that the liquid you're about to handle is extremely dangerous, so handle it with care! "
O-Okay! "
"Mm-hmm. Good reply. I mean, seriously, it's powerful enough to possibly kill a dragon, so be really careful."
Electricity is also coming to the gas station attached to the Hardware Store as well.
Or rather, I could even picture someone entering the office as it is, since it looks like it's business as usual.
The machine is still on.
The question is what to do with it, put it in the dragon room and detonate it? That's basically all there is to it.
I could also pour the gasoline itself on him. I think I heard that it takes a lot of oxygen to produce a vaporization explosion, but that room was quite large. It is probably built wide enough so that the giant dragon can fight in it.
The problem is that if the impact of the explosion causes the dungeon to collapse or something, it's over, but if we can't beat that thing anyway, we can't go up, so it's the same thing.
Fiona said she had never heard of a dungeon collapsing. Or rather, in the first place, dungeons were otherworldly places that could be created spontaneously, underground and non-underground.
It doesn't make a bit of sense, but I'll have to take her word for it.
Now, the biggest problem in dealing with gasoline is fire.
The three elements of an explosion should have been flammable gas, supportive gas, and a spark, but if static electricity were to be inadvertently generated, you would be dead in the middle of your preparation.
In the meantime, I experimented with a trace amount of gasoline, and the explosion occurred without any problem.
That means that the air here has a supportive gas...... in other words, oxygen. The fact that I am alive means that the concentration is also a decent 21% or so.
Or rather, it means that this world is not much different from Earth if I can live a normal life. Same with gravity and the laws of physics.
I had a little trouble figuring out how to get gasoline from the gas station but found what looked like a registration card at the Hardware Store office. I was able to pump fuel with it.
Perhaps they are under contract for refueling delivery trucks.
Filling every available container with gasoline, and with the lid properly on, we placed them carefully around the dragon so as not to make a sound.
It helped that the dragon didn't wake up for whatever reason. Maybe he's the type of boss who wakes up after receiving the first strike.
"Fu~. That was exhausting…… Going up and down stairs is hard……"
"Are you tired already? I'll take care of it, okay? "
"Why are you so tough, Fiona……?"
"I'm actually quite acclimatized to labyrinths."
"That's a very convenient power-up."
By defeating monsters in the labyrinth, they take in the magical power that has nowhere else to go and increase their strength as human beings. The phenomenon is said to be called acclimatization to the labyrinth, or labyrinth acclimatization.
It's kind of a really interesting world, like a game.
I would like to acclimatize too.
